Form and size: An erect perennial herb growing to 1m high
It has thick rootstock from which it can regrow annually
Distribution: A tropical plant of the Top End
Leaves: Tri-foliate; the leaflets are 5-8 cm long and 2-4 cm across. Elliptical with a sharp point
Flowers: Dense clusters of pink and purple flowers occur in the axils of the upper leaves, and each is 2-3cm across
Fruit: Pods about 6cm long containing black seeds
