Lemon Aspen
Form and Size: Small rainforest tree with a dense crown
Distribution: Highland rainforests of northeast Qld
Leaves: Large, oval, dark green above, paler beneath, glossy. 7-24cm x 5-12cm
Flowers: Small, yellowish, perfumed with a spicy fragrance, 4 petals, to 1cm diameter in dense clusters on mature branches
Flowering Period: November to April
Fruit: White or cream, ribbed, 1-3cm diameter
Cultivation/Notes: Propagate from fresh seed. Germination is usually difficult. Requires good soil and regular moisture. Fruit is quite acidic to the taste and jam made from the fruit is very similar in taste to marmalade
